Objectives

Provide girls in grades 8th-12th with the opportunity to explore different writing styles and graphic design applications.

Provide a variety of hands-on workshops and guest speaker presentations led by poets, writers, bloggers, illustrators, graphic designers, photographers and publishers.

Guide participants through the journey of writing and publishing a book of their choice: i.e. poems, songs, novel, cookbook, autobiography, comics, writing journal, planner.

Increase participant's self-confidence and self-efficacy through discussion and empowerment workshops.

Participants will engage in various creative writing activities and design projects. Participants will use the knowledge and skills gained to assist in the creation of their book.

During each session, there will be a discussion or presentation focused on personal character development (i.e. self-confidence, self-love, self-care).

Published Authors
At the end of the program, participants will showcase their published books at PublisHER's Book Launch. Participant's family, friends and local community will be able to attend.
Skills
Participants will learn how to use several different content creation and graphic design tools and applications, such as Canva, Publisher, and Adobe Spark.
